The Brewery produces 1,500 gallons of beer each week using malted barley milled on the premises, English hops, yeast and water. No sugars, colourings or additives are used except isinglass finings which settle the yeast sediment after brewing. The first pint of Ballard's was brewed in 1980 in the old cow house on our Sussex farm. The Brewery is managed by Carola Brown, and in 1988 the Brewery moved to new premises at the Old Sawmill in Nyewood.

Head Brewer, Francis Weston, has been with Ballard's since 1981. Francis holds a Certificate of Brewing Competence.

Ballards Brewery is proud to announce we are sponsoring two rowers Will Smith and Tom Heal
in The Woodvale Atlantic Ocean Rowing Race starts in December this year & goes east to west, unaided from the start for nearly 3000 miles.

Tom Heal (Nyewood, Petersfield) and Will Smith (Badminton, Avon) both 21 racing under the name of "Atlantic Row YT" estimate that it will take them between 60 - 80 days.   If successful they will be the Youngest Team ever recorded to row an ocean.
They are raising money for the Special Boat Service Association. (Charity No 1105052)
